Men Flee Into Forest After Trying To Break Into ATM: Cops

The two men were trying to break into an ATM at BMO Harris Bank in Frankfort, before fleeing when officers arrived, police said.

FRANKFORT, IL — Two men attempted to break into an ATM at BMO Harris Bank, 11041 W. Lincoln Highway, in Frankfort early Tuesday, police said. The men fled from officers after a foot chase in the forest near Lincoln Highway, police said.

Frankfort police officers responded to the bank at 1:32 a.m. Tuesday after an alarm went off. Officers from Frankfort and Mokena arrived at the scene and saw two men trying to break into the east ATM at the bank, police said.

Both men fled northbound toward Lincoln Highway, then ran onto the road and into the brush to the north of the roadway, police said. Officers lost sight of both men in the forest.

According to police, the first man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with "Puma" written in white letters across the front, black pants, black shoes, a black mask and black gloves. The second man was wearing a navy hooded sweatshirt with a striped pattern, camouflage pants, a black mask/hat with white lettering on the forehead area and black gloves.

Police said evidence has been recovered, but no car was located and nothing was stolen.
