Montessori of Frankfort gets a visit from Pilcher Park

As part of the Montessori of Frankfort Thanksgiving Day Celebration, we were delighted to have Katie and Nate, speakers from Pilcher Park Nature Center. It was an experience that helped the children imagine life as it was 200 - 300 years ago for Native Americans. The students had the opportunity to view the world as the Native people did right here in Illinois! The class identified and felt soft furs and other objects common to the area as they were long ago. It helped them imagine how these objects might be used at that time. We even participated in some Native American games and activities. It was a great addition to our studies on the traditions of Thanksgiving.
