Montessori of Frankfort has a Native American In-House Field Trip

Native American In-House Field Trip Presented by PILCHER PARK NATURE CENTER

As part of the Montessori of Frankfort Thanksgiving Day Celebration, we were delighted to have a speaker from Pilcher Park Nature Center. It was an experience that helped the children imagine life as it was 200-300 years ago for Native Americans. The students could view the world as the Native people did right here in Illinois! The class identified and felt the soft furs and other objects common to the area long ago, imagining how they might be used. We even participated in some traditional Native American games and activities. It was a great addition to our studies on the traditions of Thanksgiving.
