New Frankfort Park District Commissioner Sworn In

Mark Ponton has been appointed as commissioner, and will serve the remaining term through April 2021.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Frankfort Park District swore in a new commissioner at its Jan. 28 meeting. Mark Ponton has been appointed as commissioner, and will serve the remaining term through April 2021.

The park district said Ponton fills the seat of former commissioner John Reilly, who resigned in August.

Ponton is from St. Anne and moved to the Frankfort area in 1986, the park district said. He has a bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University, and his career experience includes IT project management for financial and food service companies.

Ponton has three children, and has also served on boards at St. Anthony Preschool, St. Mary Mokena school board and athletic board.
