New Lincoln-Way East Principal Named For Next School Year

Toriano Griggs will replace Dr. Sharon Michalak, who is retiring in June 2021.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Lincoln-Way 210 Board of Education has approved the appointment of Toriano Griggs as principal at Lincoln-Way East for the 2021-2022 school year. The district said Griggs will replace Dr. Sharon Michalak, who is retiring in June 2021.

According to the district, Griggs has more than 20 years of experience in education. He is currently the Associate Principal at Harold L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn. Griggs was previously Assistant Principal at Lyons Township High School and Supervisory Dean of Students at Glenbard West High School. He began his career in education as a special education teacher.

“We look forward to the opportunity of beginning the transition for Mr. Griggs to be the principal of Lincoln-Way East,” Superintendent Dr. R. Scott Tingley said in a release. “Throughout the interview process, Mr. Griggs demonstrated a calm and thoughtful demeanor while showcasing
the ability to connect with students, staff, and the community. His diverse experiences in education will bring a unique perspective to Lincoln-Way East High School and Lincoln- Way District 210.”

“It is very humbling and at the same time exciting to be a part of such a great institution,” Griggs said.

Griggs has a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Quincy University and a Master’s degree in Leadership and Administration from Benedictine University, the district said.
