On Nov. 1 in Frankfort: Learn About ‘Health Care in Retirement'

Trying to make heads or tails of health care, with its seemingly endless changes and complexity, is enough to make just about anyone queasy.

Against that backdrop, a retirement planning expert who speaks with clarity and authority is the perfect antidote. Starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, Dr. Jim Flanagan of Bentron Financial Group leads an in-depth discussion on Health Care in Retirement at the Frankfort Park District, 140 Oak Street.

In his one-hour presentation, Flanagan will provide detail of the four parts of Medicare: Part A (Hospital Insurance), Part B (Medical Insurance), Part C (Medicare Advantage), and Part D (Prescription Drugs).

Flanagan will also share his knowledge of Medicare Supplements and the different plans that are available. In addition, attendees will receive an overview of long-term care insurance and the four strategies used to protect yourself from the high costs of long-term care.

Flanagan founded Bentron Financial Group in 2001. He has provided financial guidance to people at or near retirement age for over 30 years. In that time, he has become a nationally recognized expert on financial issues impacting older adults and late-life transitions. Flanagan is the author of Packing For Retirement: A Practical Guide to Prepare for Retirement at Any Age.

He has served on the Oak Park/River Forest Township Senior Services Committee since 2008. In 2010, he founded the Celebrating Seniors Coalition, a not-for-profit organization that provides seniors with emergency services and raises public awareness of issues affecting seniors in Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park.
