Ann Reiter-Emlund

Ann Marie Reiter Emlund, age 62, of Plainfield, Illinois, and formerly of Summit, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Rush University Medical Center, following a brief battle with cancer.

Born March 25, 1964, in Oak Park, Illinois, she was the daughter of Stanley and Bessie (Wolf) Reiter. Ann was a graduate of Argo Community High School in Summit and worked as the Marketing Director for American House in Mt. Prospect.

Ann was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt who was known for her generosity. She would drop everything to help a family member or friend in need and took great care of everyone she loved. Ann enjoyed collecting things, but perhaps her greatest collection was the many friends she made and kept close to her heart.

Ann also had a deep love for animals, especially dogs. She fostered many dogs in her home and ultimately adopted many of them herself, giving them the love and care they needed.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Richard E. Emlund; her loving daughter, Madison Emlund; one sister, Christine Reiter; numerous nieces and nephews, including Dylan Reiter; great-nieces and great-nephews; and her special "granddaughter", Alayna La Mar.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Zolecki and Diane Reiter; and her brother, Joseph Reiter.

Visitation for Ann will be held Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 5, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Justice.
