Lorene Marie “Lori” Schmitt (Konte)

Lorene Marie “Lori” Schmitt (Konte), age 60, of Braidwood and formerly of Joliet, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Olympia Fields Hospital in Olympia Fields. She was born on July 8, 1966, in Independence, Missouri, to Edward and Patricia (Rura) Konte.

Lori had a zest for life and lived on her terms. She was always there for her family, friends, and grandchildren. She loved Facebook and connecting with old friends. She also had a great love for country music, especially her “second husband”, Tim McGraw; as well as a good storm, shopping, coffee and of course the Denver Broncos.

Lori is survived by her beloved husband, Robert L. Schmitt; her loving children, Christopher (Danielle Perry) Konte, Matthew (Kelly) Schmitt, and Jordan (Michael) Schmitt-McVicker; four adoring grandchildren, Zeke Coupaud, Aurora Schmitt, Remy McVicker, and Leo McVicker; mother, Patrica Konte; her three sisters, Cindy (Pam) Konte, Kimberly Konte, and Stephanie (James) May; fur babies, Stella and Shelby and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Konte.

A Visitation for Lorene Marie “Lori” Schmitt will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd) in Joliet, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. According to Lori’s request, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
