Old Plank Pizza Co. Finds Home In Downtown Frankfort
Old Plank Pizza Co. will offer pizza, of course, and also wings and Italian beef sandwiches.
FRANKFORT, IL — Frankfort residents won't have to wait too much longer for a new pizza restaurant in town. Old Plank Pizza Co. will hopefully open in February at 14 Elwood St., owner Brad Egner told Patch.
Brad, and his wife, Christina, are the owners of the new restaurant, which will go in the former Durbin's of Frankfort space.
Brad, who grew up in Bridgeview, said that when he was younger he always told himself that when he was older and successful, he would move to Frankfort.

When the family moved back to Illinois from New York, he knew Frankfort was their new home.
"It truly is great [being in Frankfort], because everything that needs to be done, it's a 2-minute drive away," Brad said.

Old Plank Pizza Co. will offer pizza, of course, and also wings and Italian beef sandwiches.
"The wings will be very, very good; high-end, with big portions," Brad said.
The Italian beef sandwiches may also be a fan favorite, and Brad said the sandwiches will be on 11-inch garlic bread, with the works like au jus, sweet peppers, giardiniera, mozzarella, and cooked in the pizza oven.
The recipe for the pizza dough is also special; it is Christina's great-great-grandmother's recipe from Italy, Brad said.
The restaurant will offer a dining room, and also carry-out and delivery. Brad said they are aiming for a February opening, but may do a soft launch earlier with just delivery and carry-out services.
