Old Plank Road Trail 5K Draws Nearly 100 In 21st Year

Runners and walkers took part in the downtown Frankfort tradition on Saturday.

FRANKFORT, IL -- Nearly 100 runners and walkers attended the 21st annual Old Plank Road Trail 5K on Saturday in downtown Frankfort. The running winners of the race were Stephen Stolzenbach of Crete with a time of 19 minutes, 14.24 seconds and Lisa Schleyer of Frankfort with a 25:05:79 time. The walking winners were Matthew Baguisa of New Lenox (43:45:89) and Eileen Zito of Frankfort (40:11:01).

“The OPRT race is one of our signature events, and it is always a pleasure to welcome so many Frankfort residents and visitors from nearby communities to this annual event," Frankfort Mayor Jim Holland said. "Not only can they enjoy the Old Plank Road Trail as they run or walk, but they also have an opportunity to experience our downtown district and beautiful community.”
