Old Plank Road Trail 5K Is Oct. 7 In Frankfort

FRANKFORT, IL -- A 5K race along its namesake will highlight the 21st annual Old Plank Road Trail Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 7 this year. The USATF certified course race will begin and end in Breidert Green Park that morning.

Registration is available online through the village of Frankfort website, with on-site registration scheduled for 8 a.m. at the corner of Oak and Kansas streets in downtown Frankfort. Participants can also register at the Village of Frankfort Administration Office, 432 W. Nebraska. Complete online registration by clicking on the October 7 date on the events calendar posted to the right side of the homepage. Online registration closes on Sept. 22.

Pre-registration is $15. Day of registration is $20.

The route, measured in 2016, will stay west of Pfieffer Road with a few turns. 92nd Avenue is the busiest street that it will cross that morning, so traffic changes on the thoroughfare are likely the day of the race.

The race will begin at 9:30 a.m. promptly.

Awards will be given to top race finishers in each age category.
