5th Annual “Pours for Parks” - Fundraiser

Operation Playground Foundation (OPF) will be hosting the 5th Annual “Pours for Parks” - Craft Beer, Wine and Spirits Tasting on Saturday, October 16th from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Founders Community Center. Tickets include 10 tastings, and the first 400 attendees will receive a tasting glass. Entertainment will be provided by the River Road Trio Band. Food will be available for purchase, by Hog Wild Express via their food truck. The event will be held indoors and outdoors as permitted by the weather.

A number of breweries and businesses are donating product for the event. New vendors for this year are The Wine Thief of Frankfort, Mike’s Hard Lemonade, The Long Drink, Thornton Distillery Company and Dillinger Vodka who will all be offering tastings. The addition of wine and spirits will showcase regional businesses and offer non-beer drinkers an option. A number of local and regional breweries are supporting the event with donations for the tastings including Arrowhead Ales Brewing Company, Brothership Brewing Company, Nik and Ivy Brewing, Trail’s Edge Brewing Co., Hailstorm, Hickory Creek Brewing Company, and MyGrain Brewing Company. Community Outreach Coordinator Julie Sullivan said “past attendees have enjoyed talking with the representatives from the breweries who will be on-site pouring the tastings. Having the local and regional breweries support the Foundation is an asset and is appreciated by the Foundation and those in attendance at the event.” There will also be tastings from 3 Floyds, and more during the event.

Operation Playground Foundation (OPF) provides support and improvements of park facilities and programs for the community of Frankfort. Operation Playground also promotes and fosters a spirit of volunteerism. The funds raised from this year’s event will be used to fund the newly added pickle ball courts while generating funds for future projects. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports. According to USAPA, pickleball has had a 650% increase in numbers over the last six years.

Executive Director of the Park District, Gina Hassett said “the Pours for Parks events have been a great way for the Foundation to raise money and showcase the projects funded by the Foundation. Like others, the Foundation was unable to raise money during the pandemic and it was challenging to plan for the future.” Operation Playground Foundation is a registered 501c3. Past projects funded by Operation Playground Foundation include Fort Frankfort, the Frankfort Bark Park, the 3 on 3 Basketball Courts at Main Park, the exercise facility at Michelle Bingham Park and the Judy Herder Memorial Pumptrack.
