Semifinalists are in the running for 150 college scholarships worth $20,000.

FRANKFORT, IL — Providence Catholic High School senior Zinn Amos, of Frankfort, has been named a Semifinalist in the 2022-2023 Coca-Cola Scholars Program, the school announced Friday.

“This is certainly a significant achievement for Zinn,” Principal Paul Houston said in a news release. “There were 1,557 Semifinalists chosen from more than 91,000 applicants. Zinn was chosen in recognition of his exceptional leadership, academic achievements, and devotion to the community. We are very proud of Zinn and his leadership, both in and out of the classroom.”

Semifinalists are in the running for 150 college scholarships worth $20,000, according to the Foundation website. The Foundation has awarded $73.8 million in scholarships since 1989 through three nationally recognized programs.

“Zinn is an incredible student,” Kyle Murphy, Junior and Senior Counselor at Providence Catholic, said in a release. “Not only does he excel in the classroom, but I’ve had the privilege of coaching him on the basketball team where the same dedication and determination he utilizes in the classroom is displayed on the court. We have no doubt he will do great things in college and beyond.”

Semifinalists will complete Phase 2 applications, which include essays, a recommendation and a transcript. An independent selection committee will review the applications and recommend 250 Regional Finalists by the end of January to take part in online interviews, the school said.
