Pumptrack Coming to Frankfort in Memory of Community Icon
The "Judy Herder Memorial Pumptrack" will help children skate and roller blade away from traffic.

FRANKFORT, IL - A pumptrack will be purchased by the Frankfort Park District in memory of a community icon who died unexpectedly last year.
The pumptrack will be located at the corner of Nebraska Street and Luther Lane with easy access to the Old Plank Trail, according to a report from the Daily Southtown. The addition was made in memory of Judy Herder, who spearheaded the efforts to create the Fort Frankfort playground and helped create the non-profit Operation Playground Foundation.

When Herder died just weeks after she was diagnosed with stage four cancer in December, “the whole town felt terrible,” said Phil Simmons, current president of Operation Playground Foundation.
"We lost a huge contributor to our whole community,” Simmons said. “Judy was so dear to us and helped in so many ways on all these projects.”

The foundation’s newest project is the “Judy Herder Memorial Pumptrack,” a planned 54 feet by 54 feet place for young residents to skateboard and roller blade away from traffic.
