Fire At State Farm Property In Frankfort Closes Route 30 For Hours

Route 30 re-opened in Frankfort after a fire at the State Farm property on Lincoln Highway was put out during rush hour on Thursday.

FRANKFORT, IL — A main thoroughfare in Frankfort was closed for hours during rush our due to a fire at a building on the State Farm property in the 8600 block of Lincoln Highway. Motorists avoiding U.S. Route 30 between 84th and 88th avenues detoured through nearby subdivisions, packing the narrow streets as firefighters from several south suburban departments battled the fire.

Route 30 was re-opened to traffic around 7 p.m., according to an alert from the village police department.

The fire was first reported just before 4 p.m. and put out shortly before 5 p.m., witnesses said. It appears one building on the property sustained severe fire damage. Children at the nearby Bobbie Noonan Daycare were being picked up by parents who parked at the Frankfort Public Library because the road to the daycare was closed.
