NAWS Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Sammie

Sammie was dumped pregnant in a Tennessee high-kill shelter and was rescued by NAWS in time to have her puppies in a foster home.

MOKENA, IL — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at NAWS Humane Society of Illinois. This week's 'Adoptable Pet' is Sammie, who is available for adoption at the humane society.

Sammie is a 2-year-old Shepherd mix. The society said Sammie was dumped pregnant in a Tennessee high-kill shelter and was rescued by NAWS in time to have her puppies in a foster home.

All of Sammie's puppies have been adopted, and now it's her turn.

The society said Sammie is very smart and likes to play with toys. She does well in doggy playgroup and enjoys being around other dogs. Sammie can be a little shy at first, so she would probably do best in an adult-only household. With patience, she quickly warms up and shows her sweet nature.

You can email Heather at heather@nawsus.org or call NAWS at 708-478-5102 with any questions or to meet her.
