Severe House Fire Displaces Frankfort Square Homeowner
The fire began in the attic and spread to the roof, family room and kitchen.

The occupants of a Frankfort Square home were displaced after a fire severely damaged a house on Laurel Drive.
Firefighters were called at approximately 9 p.m. Monday night to a home on the 7900 block of Laurel Drive in response to an attic fire.

The fire began in the attic and then spread to the roof and ground floor, according to Frankfort Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Sean Fierce. The home’s roof supports suffered structural damage, and the family room and kitchen were damaged as well.
No one was injured, but Fierce said that the damage was severe and that the owner and occupants of the home will be displaced.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Firefighters took 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze and companies remained on the scene for two hours.
The Matteson Fire Department, Tinley Park Fire Department and Manhattan Fire Protection District provided on-site assistance.
