Sister Anna Clare Meyer Turns 104!

Franciscan Sisters Celebrate Special Birthday

Every birthday is special, but even more so when you reach 104, as Sister Anna Clare Meyer did on September 2, 2019. Sister Anna Clare, a Franciscan Sister of the Sacred Heart in Frankfort, Illinois, began her celebration with Sunday Mass, where she received a special birthday blessing from Fr. Lawrence Jagdfeld, the Motherhouse chaplain. Following the Mass, she enjoyed cake and coffee with several of her friends. On Monday the Sisters held a festive picnic lunch celebration in her honor.

During Sister Anna Clare’s years as a Sister, she has ministered as a housekeeper, an assistant cook, and for 30 years as a clinical lab aide. Today she continues to be involved in as many activities as possible. With the help of Sally (a volunteer), she continues to write letters to both family and friends.

When asked to what she attributes her long life, Sister answered, “I’m not good enough yet. I’m still working on getting better so I can go straight to Heaven!”
