St. Mary Catholic School Honors Veterans on Veterans Day
St. Mary Catholic School commemorated Veterans Day with a celebration, paying tribute to the men and women who have served our nation.
On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, veterans were welcomed to the school where they attended a special mass with the students, staff, and faculty. The mass was a symbol of respect and gratitude for the sacrifices made by these veterans. . Following the mass, veterans visited classrooms, sharing their experiences and stories with the students. Student Council representatives facilitated these conversations, creating a connection between the veterans and the students for a better understanding of the significance of Veterans Day.
Students also participated in placing American flags around the school, which stand as a reminder of the service and dedication of veterans, not only on Veterans Day but every day.
Dr. Michele Engelman, Principal of St. Mary Catholic School, emphasized the importance of instilling a sense of honor and gratitude in our students. She stated, "It is important for our students to understand the sacrifices made by our veterans and the importance of showing our appreciation. By connecting with veterans, we hope to instill a lifelong sense of respect and gratitude for their service in the hearts of our students."
