St. Mary's Student Council is proud to announce the success of not one, but two food drives aimed at supporting those in need in the community.
During Catholic Schools Week, the students rallied together to collect an impressive 350 boxes of cereal. This generous donation was made to Catholic Charities in Joliet, providing help to those facing food insecurity in the area.
Continuing their spirit of giving, the Student Council organized an event dubbed the "Souper Bowl'' during Super Bowl week. Students were encouraged to donate cans of soup and vote for the team they thought would emerge victorious in the big game. The result? Over 300 cans of soup were collected, all of which will directly benefit the Day Break Shelter in Joliet.
"We are so proud of our students for their dedication and generosity," remarked Dr. Michele Alday-Engleman, Principal of St. Mary. "These food drives not only demonstrate our commitment to serving others but also highlight the impact that can be achieved when a community comes together."
St. Mary's School remains dedicated to fostering a sense of compassion, empathy, and service in its students. The success of this donation drive serves as a testament to the school's mission of nurturing not only academic excellence but also a strong sense of social responsibility.
