FRANKFORT, IL — Lincoln-Way East's football team took a runner-up finish at the IHSA Class 8A state championship game against Wilmette's Loyola Academy.
The Griffins lost to Loyola Academy, 3-13, in the championship on Saturday, held at Memorial Stadium in Champaign.
Lincoln-Way East went 13-1 this season, defeating Conant High School, Neuqua Valley, Warren High School and Glenbard West High School in the playoffs, to make it to the state finals.

A community parade was held Sunday for the team.
Lincoln-Way East has won the state championship twice in recent years, once in 2017 and once in 2019. The school was also state runner-up in 2012.
