Summit Hill D161: Sept. 18 Board Briefs

At the meeting, the board approved the 2019-20 budget, hirings of several employees and recognized three golfers from the district.

FRANKFORT, IL — Summit Hill District 161 recently shared board briefs from its Sept. 18 regular board meeting. At the meeting, the district said the board recognized Frankfort Square School staff for its second consecutive year being selected by Chicago Magazine as one of the top 10 elementary schools in Will County.

The board also recognized three Summit Hill Junior High golfers who participated in the IESA state golf championship; Shirley Pirko from Town Center Bank and Nancy Schmitrz from the Frankfort Lions Club for their generous donation of school supplies and backpacks; and Mrs. Borgens for earning the IASB Master Board Member level along with Mr. Martin and Mrs. Murphy for earning the IASB Master Board Member Level 1.

The board also approved several hirings, approving the employments of Terri Klementzos, FMLA teacher; Melissa Youngs and Timothy Schmelzer, building technicians; Terrance Brown, technology specialist/assistant manager; Taylor Guyton and William Bruno, paraprofessionals; Earlene Rendina and Nicole O’Connell, districtwide sub nurses; Debra Small, Kim Leyendecker, and Jamie Tremble, lunchroom supervisors; and Catherine Whitney, district-wide sub lunchroom supervisor.

At the meeting, the board also held a public hearing before approving the 2019-2020 budget.

The board approved: a one-year contract extension with Eternally Green Lawn Care for snow removal services; the replacement of the second-floor boiler Hilda Walker School; and Commercial Electronic Systems to complete five-year fire and sprinkler system inspections at SHJH.
