Summit Hill Math Teams Finish Successful Season

The teams participated in two competitions, the Des Plaines Valley Conference Math competition and another at Lincoln-Way Central.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Summit Hill seventh and eighth grade math teams had a successful season this year. The school said the teams participated in two competitions, the Des Plaines Valley Conference Math competition and another at Lincoln-Way Central.

At the Des Plaines Valley Conference competition, the seventh grade team took third place in the group competition, while the eighth grade team took first place in the group competition, according to the school. At the second meet at Lincoln-Way Central, the seventh grade team again took third place in the order of operations competition, while the eighth grade team took second place in both the linear equations and area, perimeter and volume competitions.

The school said individual members of the teams also received recognitions. Seventh grader Divya
Thumu finished fourth overall out of all seventh Grade students, and eighth grader Kian De Guzman finished first out of all eighth graders.

The seventh grade math team includes: Sebastian Avila, Janie Clifton, Braden Galbert, Connor
Gemmell, Sophia Giampaolo, Cory Hansen, Lukas Nightingale, Grace Palmer, Dylan Sayers,
Diya Thumu, Nathan Webster, Jacob Werner, Matthew Utton, Elizabeth Hoppenrath,
Jaiden Knoop and Mustafa Haider.

The eighth grade math team includes: Danny Cooke, Kian De Guzman, Mikayla Hickks, Lana
Prainito, Jamie Prendivlle, Ryan Schimke, Tyler Schmehl, Tommy Sieka and Michael Timm.
