Three questions with Hunchback's Jake Welker

Do you think St Aphrodisius is really advising Quasimodo, or do you think he is a reflection of what’s already going on in Quasimodo’s head? How does his appearance propel the story forward?

I believe that St. Aphrodisius is a reflection of what Quasimodo's own thoughts are . However, he still plays a pivotal role in giving Quasi the courage to move forward and help save the day.

Which song or scene in this musical carries the most meaning for you? Why?

For me, the most meaningful song is Someday for its moving lyrics and beautiful melody. It is a touching moment in the middle of the bleak second act and is a reminder to hold onto hope for what may come in the future

What's next for Jake Welker?

Nothing is set in stone at the moment, but I will likely be attending Illinois State in the fall. I am looking forward to what is to come. This summer I will be cruising the Mediterranean Sea and seeing Europe. I'm excited to practice my foreign languages while there. Other than that, I will can be found working at Texas Roadhouse this summer, so if you want my autograph before I make it big- that's where you are likely to find me.
