The Will County Children's Advocacy Center was founded in 1995 by State's Attorney James Glasgow to partner with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) comprised of law enforcement, DCFS investigators, medical personnel, prosecutors, and Will County CAC forensic interviewers, family advocates, and trauma therapists in response to reports of severe physical abuse, sexual abuse, commercial exploitation, neglect, and exposure to violence of children, in Will County, IL. Our Will County CAC intake/MDT coordinator, forensic interviewers, family advocates, and trauma therapists provide the following services: * Forensic Interviews: After a child is referred to the Will County CAC by law enforcement or the IL Dept. of Family Services (DCFS), our Intake Coordinator schedules a forensic interview for the child. One of our 4 forensic interviewers listens to the child’s story and asks non-leading, developmentally-appropriate questions as the child talks about the trauma he/she has experienced. Law enforcement, prosecution, DCFS, and mental health professionals observe the interview from a separate room. This reduces trauma for the child and provides a stronger foundation if the case goes to court. * Family Advocacy: Our family advocates are committed to helping each family navigate the complex systems that a family enters when a child makes an outcry of abuse. As each case goes through the investigation, prosecution and healing process, the team is there to help the family understand the process, learn about their rights and successfully access resources that will help their family during crisis. * Trauma-Focused Therapy: Our team of licensed clinical social workers provide short-term, trauma informed therapy to children who have received a forensic interview. Since child abuse affects the whole family, the services are available at no cost to both the child and their non-offending family members. Mark your calendar and join the Community Arts Council of Kankakee County for all the great food, fun and entertainment at this year’s Strawberry Jazz Festival on Sunday, June 14. The fun begins at 11 am at Northfield Square Mall in Bradley, IL and continues to 4:00 pm.&nbsp; Admission and parking is free, so bring the whole family!

Entertainment will be provided on three stages featuring local groups like Acting Out Theater at the Community Stage.&nbsp; Enjoy top-notch jazz groups like The Kings of Dixieland, the Jazz Time Combo and the Allan Laskey Quartet at the Outdoor Stage. Relax to the sounds of smooth jazz from entertainers like Patrick Noland, Andrew David and Inversion Jazz on the Center Court Stage.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Artists and crafters will be selling original work such as wood, glass, fabric, ceramic, art, jewelry and other types throughout the Mall and outdoors.&nbsp; Local non-profits will have information about membership and upcoming events and be sure to stop by the Friends of the Kankakee Public Library’s annual book sale.&nbsp; An indoor Kids’ Zone will let your child explore their creativity with art and craft activities and the popular Dime Toss will be outdoors.

Several local food truck vendors will be serving summer favorites and offering specialty strawberry items.&nbsp; Make your way to Center Court to purchase fresh strawberries and chocolate-covered strawberries.

<a href="https://fordphilanthropy.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Ford Philanthropy</a>&nbsp;is teaming up with the <a href="https://www.ghsa.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Governors Highway Safety Association</a> (GHSA) and the <a href="https://idot.illinois.gov/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Illinois Department of Transportation</a> to bring four free, hands-on Ford Driving Skills for Life clinics to Manheim Chicago in Matteson, Ill., on June 27-28, 2026.
Established in 2003, Ford Driving Skills for Life pairs newly licensed or permitted teen drivers with professional instructors for advanced behind-the-wheel training designed to help inexperienced drivers develop the skills needed to recognize hazards, control their vehicles and make safer decisions on the road. Each session combines instruction from professional drivers with hands-on exercises that allow teens to practice important driving techniques in a controlled environment.

Participants will work with professional instructors to learn how to manage real-world driving situations and understand how their choices behind the wheel affect others on the road.

MorningStar Mission is a non-denominational charitable organization dedicated to relieving the spiritual and physical hunger of the poor. The mission accomplishes this by providing food for the hungry, clothing for the needy, shelter for the homeless and the Gospel of Jesus Christ for all.&nbsp;
Through multiple Christ-centered programs and services, MorningStar Mission aims to help people in need by getting to the core issues of what has caused their homelessness. Whether the problem stems from alcohol, drugs, mental health or family issues, their services have been developed for those who have reached the decision to make a real change in their lives.
To help carry out their meaningful work, MorningStar Mission is presently in need of sewing supplies for a newly created sewing class.&nbsp;

If you can't drop the supplies off at the Washington Street office, you may also drop them off at the mission's Treasure Chest Thrift stores in New Lenox or Joliet - but be sure to write "Sewing Class" c/o Judy on your donation bags or boxes in marker or print "Sewing Class" in large font on your computer printer and tape it to your donation so it reaches the sewing class.&nbsp;
