Two Lincoln-Way North Grads Drafted By MLB Teams
D.J. Lee was drafted by the Oakland A's and Ben Troike was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays.
FRANKFORT, IL — Two Lincoln-Way North graduates were drafted by teams in the MLB draft this week. D.J. Lee, who is from Frankfort and plays outfield for the University of Richmond, was drafted in the 39th round by the Oakland Athletics. Ben Troike, who plays shortstop for University of Illinois, was drafted in the 11th round by the Tampa Bay Rays.
According to the University of Richmond,Lee is a three-time team captain at the school. He played in 39 games this season and started 37 of them. He was a two-year starter at Lincoln-Way North and he was a first-team all-area selection.
According to the University of Illinois, Troike was the starting shortstop and leadoff hitter this year. He was injured by a pitch in May and missed the rest of the season. He was a team captain as a senior at Lincoln-Way North and was all a three-time all-Southwest Suburban Conference player.
