Village of Frankfort honors Hickory Creek Middle School Cheerleaders for winning State Championship

The Hickory Creek Middle School Cheerleaders were recognized by Mayor Jim Holland and the Village of Frankfort Board of Trustees on February 1. The cheerleaders won the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) State Championship for the Large Team Routine Division at the Peoria Civic Center on January 23.

Leading up to the championship, the girls also took 1st place titles at two other competitions, the
Lincoln Way-North Invitational and the Oak Forest Invitational.

At the meeting, Mayor Holland invited the girls, coaches and administrators to come before the Board while he read a formal proclamation and awarded them a plaque. Afterwards, the girls also did a short cheerleading routine for the Mayor and Board.

The Hickory Creek coaches are Tania Wilson and Katie Ellinghaus. The seventh grade cheerleaders include Lucy Benn, Lauren Booth, Nicole Caruso, Hannah Collins, Claire Cunnigham, Tiffani Gergely, Alyssa Goodman, Halle Guderjan, Gabby Judd, Devyn Mangin, Kendall Reh, Alexa Selvaggio, Kelly Teach and Ellie Warning. The eighth grade cheerleaders include Emma Barnard, Colleen Bell, Rylie Bolsoni, Sarah Campbell, Caitlin Cunningham, Fiona Dees, Riley Feehery, Anna Jungels and Emma O’Hagan.

Coach Wilson stated, “This is an amazing group of extremely talented, hard-working, motivated young ladies who always gave full dedication to their team and it paid off!”
