Woman Kicks Frankfort Police, Squad Car During Arrest: Cops

The California woman knocked a sergeant to the ground as officers tried to arrest and cuff her, Frankfort police said.

FRANKFORT, IL — A California woman is accused of kicking a Frankfort police sergeant and a squad car window during an arrest for trespassing, according to the department. Janelle E. Halbrook, 23, of Santa Fe Springs, California, was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting arrest and criminal trespass to a residence. She was ordered held on $7,500 bail at Will County Jail.

The incident happened at around 11:50 p.m. July 10 in the 100 block of Pacific Street. Officers were called by a resident who said Halbrook wouldn't leave his home, according to Deputy Chief Kevin Keegan. Halbrook was told repeatedly to leave by officers, but she wouldn't comply, Keegan said.

Halbrook was eventually arrested for trespassing, and officers tried to handcuff her. That's when she spun away from police and allegedly began kicking, knockng a sergeant to the ground, Keegan said. Hallbrook also kicked other officers during the struggle, he added.

Police were finally able to cuff her and put her in the squad woman. Once inside the car, she began kicking the vehicle's windows, Keegan said.

No one was hurt during the arrest, the deputy chief added.
