8th-graders honored at FCA parent-alumni girls hoops game

Jessica Smith sank a rebound basket with 10 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Falcons over the parents and alumni 30-28 on Tuesday in the annual "grudge match" to cap the Faith Christian Academy girls basketball season.

Former FCA girls hoops standouts Chloe Rojas and Tally McGowen joined parents of this year's FCA players in the game with this year's Falcons squad. Chloe was captain and co-MVP of the 2011 FCA hoops team that captured the Two Rivers Conference tournament championship and the FCA tournament title in March 2011. Chloe is now a junior at St. Charles East High School, where she starts for the varsity girls volleyball team. Tally was a team captain for the 2013 Falcons, helping FCA to a 16-4 record last season. She is now a freshman at Wheaton Academy, where she was a key contributor for the Warriors' freshman team.

After the game, FCA honored its five eighth-grade players for four years of commitment to the school's girls basketball program. The players who were honored were Jessica Smith, Nicki Smith, Lauren Caprini, Anneliese Lockner and Samantha Nosewicz. Congratulations on four great seasons at Faith!

The Falcons conclude their season with an eighth-grade game at Rotolo Middle School in Batavia on Wednesday.
