GENEVA, IL — A charming city in Kane County, beloved for its shopping, culinary scene and small-town feel, was named among the best places to live in a new ranking.
Chicago magazine ranked Geneva as the seventh "best suburb to call home" in the northern Illinois region. It's "where suburban cool meets affordability," according to the magazine.
"Geneva may be 45 miles from the [Chicago] Loop, but the western suburb boasts a downtown that feels like Wicker Park," the article stated. "...While housing prices have surged by more than 50 percent over the past five years, living here is still a relative bargain."
Alchemist's craft cocktails, Penrose Brewing's hard seltzers and Revolucion's tequila old-fashioneds received nods in the write-up.
The magazine partnered with analytics firm DataJoe to assess 205 communities with populations of 5,000 and higher in the Chicagoland area. Each suburb was evaluated across eight categories, and Geneva received scores above 9.0 in mobility, entertainment, and green spaces and parks.
