GENEVA, IL — A Memorial Day traffic stop in the 1600 block of West State Street in Geneva resulted in multiple felony drug and weapon charges against a DeKalb man, police said Wednesday.

At around 10:17 p.m. that Monday, Geneva officers pulled over a Honda Civic for driving 56 mph in a 35-mph zone. When an officer smelled cannabis coming from inside the sedan, police asked the driver, identified as the 20-year-old Austin Seely-Williams, to exit the car, according to a news release.

When Seeley Williams, of the 800 block of West Taylor Street in DeKalb, was out of the car, police saw a cannabis cartridge in plain view, which is illegal, as the driver was underage. Police found several more weed cartridges as well as a plastic sandwich bag containing a leafy green substance, suspected to be cannabis, and a digital scale in the glove box, officials said.

In the trunk, police say officers uncovered a Glock 22, a handgun that was converted into a fully automatic weapon with a "switch," in addition to a loaded high-capacity drum magazine that contained about 45 rounds of .40-caliber ammunition. A hollow point bullet was in the chamber of the Glock 22.

The Kane County State's Attorney’s Office authorized the following charges against Seeley Williams, who was ordered detained under the Pretrial Fairness Act until his next court date.

As of Wednesday, Seely remains in custody at the Kane County jail.
