GENEVA, IL — Garbage collection rates are set to increase in a few days in Geneva.
Beginning July 1, a waste sticker will increase to $4.51 from $4.32, while the optional garbage cart subscription will rise by about $1 per billing cycle.
Prices will also surge to $2.85 for 20-gallon bags and $182.25 annually for 65-gallon yard waste carts.
The increase is part of the city's contract with its refuse collector, Lakeshore Recycling Systems. Residents who purchased stickers at the current rate can continue using them without paying the difference.
The City of Geneva sells waste stickers online through a secure payment portal. Residents may also buy stickers in person at the Geneva Finance Department, 15 S. First St., or at participating local retailers.
Since the Fourth of July falls on a weekend, refuse collection the week of June 29 will proceed as usual.
