GENEVA, IL — U.S. News & World Report released its 2026-2027 Best High Schools list, placing Geneva Community High School among the 100 best in the state.
U.S. News evaluated about 27,000 eligible public high schools nationwide and ranked nearly 18,000 of them. Geneva High School ranked 53rd in Illinois.
The rankings are based on six performance measures, including student achievement on state-required assessments, graduation rates and college readiness.
U.S. News also considers how well schools serve underserved students, participation and performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams, curriculum breadth and overall student outcomes.
About 47 percent of Geneva High School students took at least one AP Exam, with 42 percent passing. The school's graduation rate is 96 percent.
At 77 percent, Geneva students' science proficiency topped both mathematics and reading proficiency, which fall at 47 percent and 55 percent, respectively.
The college readiness index rank put Geneva High School in 67th place in the state. The index is determined based on the proportions of 12th graders who took and earned a qualifying score on at least one AP or IB exam.

In Illinois, the state's top five public high schools are also ranked among the 100 best in the country, according to the report.
The rankings use data from the 2023-2024 school year and were produced with research firm RTI International.
