Water Service Replacement Underway For Route 31 In Geneva

GENEVA, IL — A water service replacement project began Tuesday on Route 31 near Franklin Street in Geneva, officials announced.

The residential work, expected to last two days, requires traffic to be reduced to one lane while crews from Geneva Public Works Department's water division complete the construction.

Crews started preparation work by drilling potholes on the east side of the road before switching to the west side.

Route 31 will reopen later Tuesday, but the lane closure will resume Wednesday as crews install the new water service lines. The schedule is weather-dependent.

Flaggers will be in place directing drivers through the work zone.
