1,500 Customers Lose Power After Construction Crew Strikes Underground Line In Geneva

GENEVA, IL — About 1,500 customers lost electricity Tuesday afternoon after construction crews inadvertently struck an underground line on Geneva's west side, officials said.

The outage occurred at about 12:30 p.m. while a contractor was using boring equipment. Customers in the Fisher Farms and Peppery Valley subdivisions, Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital, and portions of the Geneva Commons were affected.

Crews from the Geneva Public Works Department responded and restored power to all customers shortly after 1 p.m., according to a news alert.
