GENEVA, IL — Bibliophiles will have a chance to connect with more than 20 authors, discover new books and celebrate storytelling at the Geneva Public Library's third annual Fall Author Fest, set for three days in November.
Each will be featured at respective events Nov. 6 and Nov. 8, the weekend before the local author fest, slated for 1-3 p.m. Nov. 14.
"Books have a special way of bringing people together, sparking curiosity, and opening doors to new ideas and perspectives," library Director Christine Lazaris said in a statement. "Fall Author Fest gives our community the opportunity to meet the people behind the stories, discover new voices, and celebrate the creativity and connections that make reading so rewarding."
The event will kick off with the First Friday Special Author Visit from 4-5:30 p.m. Nov. 6. The star of the show will be Matthew Cordell, the author and illustrator of "Hello, Neighbor! The Kind and Caring World of Mister Rogers" and "Wolf in the Snow," for which he received the 2018 Caldecott Medal. He will host a presentation about his latest titles, "102" and "Starman: The Cosmic Voyage of David Bowie," followed by a book signing.
Two days later, from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 8, Jay Payleitner will visit the library for a presentation about America's 250th anniversary. Using his book, "Happy Semiquincentennial, America!," Payleitner will take guests on a journey through 250 reasons to celebrate the United States, blending history, humor, travel, trivia and reflections on American life. Registration for the event is recommended.
The Fall Author Fest will conclude with the Local Author Fest, featuring more than 20 authors who will share their work. The drop-in event suited for all ages is planned from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 14. These authors are participating:
