The River Street Streetscape looked great, the arch showcased its "River Street "top and workers were putting finishing touches on painting the parking deck on a sunny Monday afternoon in downtown Batavia.
The street's brick work makes the street inviting to walkers, bicycle riders and vehicles, part of the "Woonerf" concept that has been considered for Third Street in Geneva. The Woonerf is a Dutch traffic code regulation that restricts motorized traffic to walking pace so that pedestrians and bicyclists can share the street with drivers.
Part of the effort is to "draw regional attention to River Street." On this sunny Monday afternoon, it was not hard to envision people coming to the area to stroll, eat, shop and enjoy the community setting.
Here are some photos of the arch and the streetscape, taken on June 3, 2013.
