Avoiding Probate Educational Seminar at Monarch Landing

Program Description:

This presentation will cover some of the most common complaints about probate: It ties up property; it’s expensive; it’s public record; it’s subject to attack by creditors; and it invites family squabbles.

It will then teach the differences between “probate assets” and “non-probate assets” – and why the distinction is important. Finally, it will cover ways to avoid probate, including the use of living trusts, joint tenancy, beneficiary designations, transfer on death instruments, etc.

All residents will benefit from this free information, by learning how to effectuate their last wishes in the most fiscally conservative way.

Our Speaker:

Thomas J. Homer (from the Homer Law Firm in Naperville) is a former Illinois Appellate Court Judge and State’s Attorney. With over 30 years of legal experience, attorney Tom Homer enjoys an outstanding reputation among his clients and was recently named by his peers as one of Chicago’s Best Lawyers. He is known for his strong advocacy on behalf of his clients. Since 2004, Thomas J. Homer has served as the ethics advisor to the Illinois General Assembly.
