Boil Order Still In Effect After Water Main Breaks In Evernia Court

Results from water samples tested Monday should be available Tuesday and will determine if the boil order can be lifted, officials said.

GENEVA, IL — A boil order is in effect for residents of Evernia Court after a water main broke Sunday.

The Geneva Public Works Department responded on Sunday morning to the water main break just west of Wheeler Park. In an update at 10:46 a.m. Monday, officials said the damaged water main was repaired, but the boil order is still in place.

City staff took water samples in the area Monday and dropped them off for testing. Results are expected Tuesday to determine if the boil order, which typically lasts 24 hours, can be lifted.

The boil order is only in effect for the following residential addresses on Evernia Court: 802, 804, 805, 806, 807, 808, 809, 811, 812, 813, 814, 815, 816, 118, 819 and 820.

On Monday, public works crews are removing the remainder of the asphalt that was compromised during the water main break and filling in the trench with gravel and asphalt patching. Officials said the road and storm sewer will also be cleaned of gravel that washed out during the break.

Evernia Court residents with questions or concerns should call the Geneva Police Department's non-emergency number at 630-232-4736. Police will dispatch the appropriate Public Works Department's water division staff.
