Lewis University students honored on fall dean's list

Just over 1,400 students were honored on the Lewis University Dean's List for the 2021 Fall Semester. To be eligible for this honor, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours during the semester with a grade point average of at least 3.5 and with no "D" or "F" grades.

Willem Vandermeij named to dean's list at Cedarville University

Cedarville University student Willem Vandermeij of Geneva, IL, majoring in Computer Engineering, was named to the Dean's Honor List for Fall 2021. This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Nana Oduro named to Ohio University's dean's list

Ohio University College of Business student Nana Oduro, of Geneva, has been named to Ohio’s Fall 2021 Dean's List.

More than 5,000 students qualified for the fall semester 2021 Dean's List at Ohio University, including main and regional campuses.

Over 40 states were represented on the Dean's List, including Arizona, Connecticut, California, Florida, Illinois, Rhode Island, Texas and Ohio. Students also represented Ireland, India, China, Oman and Switzerland.

Ohio students must earn at least a 3.5-grade point average for the semester with a schedule of classes totaling at least 15 hours, 12 of which were taken for letter grades, to achieve this distinction.

Geneva student earns all-conference accolades for UW-Whitewater track and field

Katie McNamara, a native of Geneva, IL, and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater track and field program, was one of 14 Warhawks who earned All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference accolades for the 2022 indoor season following their performances at the conference indoor meet over the weekend in Platteville, Wis.

The Warhawk men totaled 104 points to place fourth in the team standings, while the women collected 31 points to finish seventh overall.

Clark Giansanti named to dean's list at Biola University

Clark Giansanti was named to Biola University's Dean's List for academic excellence.

Giansanti from Geneva, IL, a Bible, Theology, and Ministry major, was one of nearly 1,800 students who were named to the dean's list in Fall 2021. Biola students are placed on the dean's list to honor those with a GPA of 3.6 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more credits and whose cumulative GPA is at least 3.2.

"Inclusion in Biola University's Dean's List is reserved for students who demonstrate exceptional performance in their academic studies. This honor signifies hard work, engagement and investment in scholarship," said Tamara Anderson, associate provost of academic effectiveness and administration. "These attributes are the building blocks of continued success, not only in the classroom but in the workplace and in the students' personal lives. We celebrate these students and their achievement, and look forward to their future accomplishments."

Jack Konicek chosen for MIAA men's lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for men's lacrosse. Jack Konicek, of Geneva, has been named MIAA Men's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week.

The junior midfielder was critical on face-offs for the Thunder in wins over Monmouth College and Taylor University. Konicek was 16-for-21 on faceoffs in the 13-5 victory at Monmouth and went 23-for-26 in the win over Taylor by a score of 16-8.

He collected seven ground balls in both games to give him 14 on the week and chipped in with a man-down goal versus Monmouth. Konicek assisted on one goal in each game as well.
