Death Notice for DeWayne P. Williams

Visitation Sunday, September 11, 2- 5pm, Malone Funeral Home, Geneva. Funeral Mass September 12, 10:30am St. Peter Catholic Church, Geneva.

DeWayne P. Williams, age 72, of Geneva, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva surrounded by his family.

He was born May 1, 1944 in Chicago the son of Lorraine “Ted” and Dorothey (Stebbins) Williams.

DeWayne married his high school sweetheart, Peg in 1963. He began his career as a teller at the State Bank of Geneva, he then become the vice president of Community Hospital in Geneva, and he retired in 2007 as the building commissioner for the Village of North Aurora. He was instrumental in getting funding for the first Tri-City Ambulance service. DeWayne was a long time member at St. Peter Catholic Church and serviced as an usher and a Eucharist Minister. He was a member of the Rotary, was a Paul Harris Fellow, and served as a Cub Scout Master. In his spare time, DeWayne loved to golf and make daily trips to Starbucks for coffee and 7 Eleven for the daily paper and lottery tickets. His favorite pastime, however was spending time with his family. They vacationed in Sanibel Island, Florida every year since 1976. DeWayne especially enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren and loved attending their various sporting activities. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Margaret “Peg” (Wolfer); children Phillip (Sara) of N. Aurora and Elizabeth (David) Winterhalter of Geneva; grandchildren Zachery and Maxwell Williams and Charlie and Henry Winterhalter; and many other dear relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Prayers for DeWayne will be held Monday, September 12, 2016 at 9:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva for celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am with Father Jonathan Bakkelund, celebrant.

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 11 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home in Geneva with a liturgical wake service at 4:45 pm.

Memorials to the St. Peter Food Pantry, St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva, Illinois 60134 would be appreciated.
