Death Notice for Katherine E. Carlson

Katherine Elizabeth (Slee) Carlson passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 in Geneva, Illinois.

Katherine “Kate”, daughter to Barry Slee, and the late Lesley Slee, both of Lake Forest was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1989.
Growing up in Lake Forest, Kate’s love of horses started in Kentucky and then continued West to the Orme School of Arizona where she began equestrian competition. Kate earned a scholarship in Equine Science to Centenary College in New Jersey and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2011. During college she competed in Show Jumping throughout the country and after graduating turned professional.
In 2013 Kate left the equine world and joined the Slee Family’s Chicago based Glass Company where she worked on website development and the weekly company newsletters. Also in 2013 Kate met the love of her life, Clayton Carlson and they married in 2015. In January 2016 Kate and Clayton welcomed little Addison (Addi) Carlson into our world. Sadly Kate’s mother, Lesley Slee passed away just 3 weeks after Addison’s birth.
Kate is survived by her loving husband Clayton, daughter Addison, father Barry of Lake Forest, the Slee & Stentiford families in England, in-laws John and Dody Carlson of Geneva, and the extended Carlson family. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 320 Franklin Street in Geneva, Illinois September 24th at 1:00pm, Rev. Claudia Nalven, officiating.
