District 304 School Board Presents Tradition of Excellence Awards
Awards were handed out to the Geneva High School girls basketball team and gymnastics and swimming state qualifiers.

GENEVA, IL - The District 304 Board of Education this past week presented its highest award, the Tradition of Excellence Award, to the Geneva girls basketball team for winning its first-ever state championship.
It also presented the award to gymnastics state qualifiers and to the boys swimming state qualifier, Payton Glod.
Girls basketball state champions include Lindsay Blackmore, Briana Borkowicz, Anilise Bragg, Anna Burke, Brittany Caskey, Kyla Chenier, Emma Harkleroad, Stephanie Hart, Grace Loberg, Madison Mallory, Lexie Moore and Eliza Peters, Emily Uplegger, Margaret Whitley and Madeline Yelle. The manager for the team is Kristin Ralston.

The girls’ basketball team earned an Upstate 8 Conference Championship, an IHSA Regional Championship, Sectional Championship, Super-Sectional Championship and finished 1st place in the IHSA State Finals in Bloomington over the March 3 to 4 weekend, according to District 304 officials.
The girls’ basketball team is coached by Sarah Meadows, Head Coach.

Glod qualified in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle. This athlete qualified to compete at the IHSA Boys State Swim Meet at New Trier High School on February 24-25, 2017. The swim team is coached by Andy Rhea.

Gymnastics state qualifiers honored at the meeting include Michaela Allen, who placed 17th all-around; Claire Ginsberg, placed 3rd all-around; fourth in vault; tied second on floor; tied seventh in the uneven bars; Kelly Frank, state qualifier, according to a District 304 school board news release. These athletes qualified to compete at the IHSA State Gymnastics Meet at Palatine High School on February 17-18, 2017.
The gymnastics team is coached by Kim Hostman.
