Division Street Water Main Replacement Resumes After Winter Hiatus

As crews resume work, Division Street will once again close from Second Place to East Side Drive.

GENEVA, IL — Following a winter hiatus, the water main project on Division Street will resume this week.

A city contractor began the project in September to replace the existing water main on the north side of Division Street with new infrastructure on the south side. The completion date was originally set for late November, but the timeline was extended due to inclement weather.

As crews resume work, Division Street will once again close from Second Place to East Side Drive. Only local traffic will be allowed through.

The detour from September will be reinstated, directing drivers north on Second Place into St. Charles, west on Moore Avenue, and south on Seventh Place, which turns into East Side Drive in Geneva. The detour will be reversed for drivers heading north on East Side Drive.

The city completed a water main crossing at Route 25 and Division Street in 2023 in preparation for the full replacement project, which began in September with equipment mobilization and marking utility locations.
