Check out this sweet boy!

Meet Jasper

Hound/Lab MixApprox. 1 yr old

Calling all active families... Look no further, your best friend is here to play! Jasper is a 1-year-old Lab/Hound mix who came to IL from TN. He is currently living in a foster home with a male dog brother and he LOVES to play and wrestle. He is a higher energy dog who is always up for playing, a walk, run or just tearing around up in the yard.

Jasper is housebroken and will let you know when he needs to go out. Sometimes he will ask to go out just to go out and not because he has to do anything. He will do well in a home that has a fenced yard for him to hang out as he loves to just run and chase squirrels and play. If he does not have a place to get his energy out he will need you to provide him with plenty of exercise. If you are a runner, hiker or outdoor enthusiast you just have found your best friend!

Jasper walks nicely on his leash and has good outdoor manners. He is super friendly and will want to say "Hello" to everyone he meets, dog or person. Jasper will sleep in his crate at night if needed but he has been relaxing with the family since arriving in his foster home sleeping and with the kids. He is crated when alone as he still has the habit of eating things he shouldn't when left alone. His favorite thing to sneak when you are not looking is socks so you have to be on your toes.

The first thing his foster family noticed is how happy he looks. It is like he is smiling at you constantly. He just doesn't quite grasp his own size and strength which can cause some interesting situations when he tries to sit on your lap or curl up next to you. He is kid friendly but due to his size and loud bark might be scary to some little ones if they are not used to a dog. He is currently living with kids, the youngest being a 4-year-old who absolutely loves him and he is very gentle with her. When new people enter the house he does get a little rambunctious. He is still working on his manners and calming down when necessary but we expect that to come with age. After all he is still just a big baby! Your big baby, perhaps?
