Dr. Lynne Braun named to American Heart Association Board of Directors

Dr. Braun will help lead the achievement of the AHA's mission to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, Friday, November 20, 2015- Lynne Braun, Ph.D., of Rush University and Rush Heart Center for Women, has been named to the board of directors of the American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate for a two-year term. In this role, Dr. Braun will help lead the achievement of the association’s mission to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke through oversight of local revenue generation and health impact activities.

Dr. Braun is a professor in the Department of Adult Health and Gerontological Nursing at Rush University College of Nursing. She is also a nurse practitioner at the Rush Heart Center for Women where she focuses on prevention. Dr. Braun’s clinical and research interests include cardiovascular risk reduction, exercise, cardiac rehabilitation, hyperlipidemia and hypertension management. Dr. Braun has been an active volunteer for the American Heart Association since 1980 in numerous capacities. She is also the Chairperson of the Illinois Advocacy Committee.

As a member of the Midwest Affiliate Board of Directors, Dr. Braun will oversee the American Heart Association’s efforts in an 11-state region, comprised of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
