Dr.Besser urging on ABC News that everyone over 50 to get colon screening.

Dr.Besser urged everyone over 50 to get Colon Screening on ABC News yesterday.    One person asked why 50 when I am healthy and no symptoms.

       Here is my response:

        1) Dr.Oz of famous TV show daily--had no symptoms when he went for screening 3 years ago.He himself was Shocked that he had Cancerous Polyp.

        2) Katie Couric-lost her husband at 48 to Colon Cancer.

                  She produced a show for ABC News-and asked her friend Kim to come along for screening-like PAJAMA PARTY before screening-drinking yucky stuff and cleaning the Colon so that her doctor can see any polyp clearly.

                    To Kim surprise-who turned 50--she had Olive size that was cancerous.Kim was healthy and had NO symptoms also. Her doctor said--if she had delayed ,she could be dead in 2 years. She might have experienced symptoms 18 months from the day of screening at age 52,but then doctors couldn't do anything.

           Hello,I urge you get screening at 40--as suggested by Katie Couric.

                 a) 18.9% get colon Cancer before the age of 54.

                 b) 25% have polyp at age 50. So if you are 50,your odds are high of getting Colon Cancer.

                 c) Lucky--for all-- by removing Polyps--source of Colon Cancer is eliminiated.

                   d) If polyp is detected-you may want to get screened again--like Dr.Oz--who gets screening every 2-3 years.
