GENEVA, IL – A driver who is accused of failing to stop for a stop sign before he crashed into another car along East State Street in Geneva this past weekend has been cited for drunken driving. The 28-year-old Batavia man also faces additional charges, police said. Meanwhile, both drivers in the two-car crash remained hospitalized in stable condition at Delnor Hospital, Geneva Police Department Commander Brian Maduzia told the Daily Herald Sunday.

The collision happened at 1:37 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of East State Street in Geneva. The 28-year-old Batavia man was driving a silver 2014 Mazda CX-5 north on Criss Avenue when he allegedly failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of East State Street, according to police.

The Mazda entered the intersection without stopping, hitting a Honda Accord. The Honda was pushed into the front yard of a home in the 200 block of East State Street and hit some bushes and the cement stairs outside the home.
