Elgin Master Chorale debuts its new name in Nov. 8 concert

Former Elgin Choral Union presents "Triumph and Transcendence" at Elgin Community College

The Fox Valley’s longest established performing arts organization will present its first concert under a new name – the Elgin Master Chorale. Known as the Elgin Choral Union for nearly 70 years, the Elgin Master Chorale presents “Triumph and Transcendence,” featuring works by Poulenc, Vaughan Williams, Fauré and Hubert Parry, Saturday, November 8, 2014, 7:30 p.m., Blizzard Theater, Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, IL 60123.

Experience an emotional odyssey through the rapturous triumph of Vaughan Williams’ “Five Mystical Songs,” the spiritual playfulness of Poulenc’s “Gloria,” the serene radiance of Fauré’s “Cantique de Jean Racine” and subtle nostalgia of his “Pavane,” and the regal celebration of Sir C. Hubert Parry’s coronation anthem “I was Glad.”

The Elgin Master Chorale and conductor Andrew Lewis, who begins his tenth season as music director, invite you to share the thrilling, imaginative, transformative power of great choral music.
