Emergency Management Agency Volunteers Needed In Geneva
Volunteers can expect to respond to local emergencies relating to severe weather, major fire and police activity, and traffic management.
GENEVA, IL — The Geneva Emergency Management Agency is in need of volunteers, and local residents who want to help with emergencies around town may want to join.
Volunteers with GEMA can expect to respond to community emergencies relating to severe weather, police and fire activity, traffic management and festival assistance, among other tasks, officials said. The agency assists the Geneva police and fire departments, Chamber of Commerce and Geneva Park District while also working with emergency management agencies at the municipal, county, state and federal levels.
To become a GEMA volunteer, a few requirements must be met. Members must be at least 18 years old, be a high school graduate, have a valid Illinois driver's license, live within close proximity of Geneva, and be able to pass an in-person interview and background check. Volunteers should be community-oriented and like-minded, officials said in a news release.
